If you have been following along in our Kids Cooking Series and are interested in any of the products and gadgets that we have been using, I put together a pretty comprehensive list. As we continue teaching courses and use new products I will add them to the list for your reference.
Our Favorite Kid Friendly Cooking Tools, Gadgets, Gear and More
These mini cookie cutters are SO MUCH FUN! We use them to cut fruits and veggies into fun shapes and to make mini sandwiches. They are also the perfect size for making small jello jiggles for parties.
Mini tongs are perfect for small hands. I love these in particular because they have silicone tips which won’t scratch non stick pans. They also have a locking feature which allows you to collapse them for easier storage.
From our cinnamon toast day, here is the shaker that we use to store our cinnamon sugar in. It is stainless steel, and dishwasher safe. It also works great for sprinkling powder sugar on just about anything!
For liquid measurements, I love angled measuring cups. This helps your child to see the correct measurement from above while he/she is pouring the ingredients to be measured. We have the whole set, but if you’re going to purchase just one, I recommend the 2 cup size because it is the most versatile.
A basic plastic cutting board is all you need for your little chef in training. Although not the exact same, these are very similar to the ones my kids use. I prefer to have extra in case we are cutting fruit, veggies or meat.
This is a must have in the kitchen. I always have squares of this on hand to place beneath cutting boards and other small appliances that my kids are using. This helps keep items from slipping so that we can learn in a safe environment.
The most basic rolling pin and dare I say the most important one is the french style pin. I like it for children because they can apply even pressure to the actual pin instead of pressing into handles. It is also easier to control the speed with this style rolling pin.
These are the best wooden spoons I have found at a reasonable price point. My kids love to stir with wooden spoons and to be honest, so do I. I have this one in 10 inch and 12 inch sizes. These spoons are solid, sturdy and classic.
These is a great beginner set of knives for any budding chef. They work best on fruits, vegetables, breads and cakes. The plastic serrated edge design helps children stay safe while learning to use a sawing motion when cutting. This helps develop fine motor muscles for more advanced tasks down the road.
I bought these stools when my kids outgrew our larger kitchen helper or learning tower. They are perfect, lightweight and fold for easy storage. Yet they are durable enough to hold up adults! It’s helpful when they need a little extra boost to safely participate in kitchen tasks.
