New Years Eve Sequin Balloon Pop

Welcome to 2017! I hope you rang in the New Year surrounded by family, friends, love and laughter.

I wanted to do something fun for the kids so I made two large sequin balloons to pop. It was super simple and lots of fun for the kids and adults alike. Here is how I made it:

Sequin Balloon Pop

Using a funnel, insert the tip into the neck of a large punching balloon, as in the picture below. I just set the balloon in a glass for the picture.

Next pour sequins into the funnel. I used about 1/4 cup of sequins, but any amount will work. I then used the blunt end of a bamboo skewer to push the sequins gently through the funnel. A chopstick would also work well to push the sequins in.

Now just blow up the balloon, tie if off and you are ready to party!!!!

As much as I’m sure you’d love to see the animated gif that my husband made of me popping the balloon, I will save you (read: me) from that embarrassment and just show you the aftermath of the pop. We did a countdown from 10 and I popped the balloon with a thumb tack. And BAM there were sequins everywhere followed by lots of laughter, goofy grins and even kids making sequin angels on the carpet 😉

I think this would be fun for birthday parties, the 4th of July or really any celebration! I thought about using glitter instead of sequins, but that would have been a much bigger mess – yikes!

Thankfully, my neighbor, Taylor, is also a dear friend and didn’t mind vacuuming up the “fun.” She said it was a quick clean up with a few passes of the vacuum – phew!

I could not have asked for a better evening with family and friends. Cheers to 2017 and my wish is that it is your best year yet!
