My simple spicy shrimp are so easy to whip up you can have a quick and light dinner or appetizer ready in well under 15 minutes. In fact, they take just 6 minutes of actual cooking 😉 Friends popping over? In laws coming for a visit? Just want some delicious shrimp for lunch or dinner? This is a great recipe to have on hand when you need something fast and delicious.
Also, as an added bonus for those watching caloric intake – these shrimp are made with no cooking fat at all. Can I get a hell yea?! Now let’s get started….
Begin by preparing your shrimp. If you are using frozen shrimp, make sure to thaw in the refrigerator overnight. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and remove the tails. Just grab the shrimp and gently pull the tail off.
Like this….
Add to a bowl and set aside. In another small bowl mix the dry spices. If you are prepping the meal ahead of time you can cover and place in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours ahead of cooking time.
When you are ready to cook the shrimp, preheat oven to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Add the dry spices to the shrimp and toss to coat.
Lay the seasoned shrimp in a single layer on the baking sheet. This tray is ready for a trip to the oven!
Place baking sheet in your piping hot oven, and set your timer for 6 minutes. Remove promptly from oven and take the shrimp off of the baking sheet to stop them from overcooking. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or salsa. Last weekend we had our shrimp served over brown rice with a corn and black bean salsa. But I also love to dip them in a creamy sweet chili sauce. They are also delightful cold so make sure to refrigerate leftovers promptly and enjoy them the next day.
