Air fryer fiesta ranch carrots chips will make you fall in love with carrots all over again. Have you ever had air fryer carrots? They’re sweet, a little crunchy and oh so satisfying. I thought air fryer baby carrots were amazing, until I made these air fryer fiesta ranch carrot chips! Total game changer.
A few friends asked about a picture I shared in my stories about ranch carrots made in the air fryer. Like any good friend, I promised I would do a post on how I made them next time. I had an idea to try carrot chips and fiesta ranch. I wasn’t sure if I would like it, but it is my new favorite. I’ve made them four times this week already, and yes I’ve gone though three bags of carrots chips – not sorry one bit.
Let’s get one thing out of the way – these are not potato chips and they’re not French fries – they’re carrots. I want to make sure you’re in the right mindset when trying this recipe. Carrots are still carrots no matter how you cook them. These just happen to be really delicious carrots, but they are carrots nonetheless.
So what do you need to make air fryer fiesta ranch carrot chips?
- Carrots – you can buy them already sliced into chips – so convenient. Or you can slice them yourself, totally up to you. The crinkle cut on the pre cut carrots helps hold onto some of the seasoning. So if you’re going to cut them yourself I recommend a crinkle cutting tool like this one, that I have.
- Hidden Valley Fiesta Ranch Mix
- Light oil cooking spray (I use avocado oil, but canola would also work). Do not use extra virgin olive oil as it has too low of a smoke point and will result in a bitter flavor. This is my FAVORITE brand of avocado oil.
- Air Fryer – this is the one I have, and I love it so much that it has a permanent spot on my counter top.
So let’s get started on these air fryer fiesta ranch carrot chips:
Preheat your air fryer for about 2 minutes. The factory default on mine is 390 degrees – use whatever your air fryer suggests.
While the air fryer is heating up make sure that your carrot chips are dry. You may need to blot them off with a paper towel. If they are too wet the oil and seasoning will not stick to them properly.
Remove the air fryer basket and spray the bottom with a little bit of cooking spray. This will prevent your carrots from sticking.
Add in 8 ounces of carrot chips. Any more and the basket will be too crowded and the carrots will steam and not get crispy. This is 1/2 half of the 1 pound bag I purchased. If you have an air fryer with a wider basket you can double the recipe, but I tried it in mine and it just doesn’t turn out the same.
Spray the carrots generously with cooking spray and then sprinkle 1 Tablespoon of fiesta ranch seasoning mix over the carrots. You can use more or less, but I tested this recipe about 10 times and found that 8 ounces of carrots to 1 Tablespoon of seasoning to be the best ratio.
Toss gently to distribute the seasoning, you can even use your hands to make sure each carrot is nicely coated in oil and seasoning. They should look like the picture below. Now place basket back into air fryer.
Cook for 4-5 minutes then remove the basket and toss carrots and then cook for an additional 4-5 minutes. They should look something like this.
Let’s Eat
Remove and transfer to a plate and enjoy! They are SO good just like this, but it you want to take it to the next level. Scoop up this good foods vegan queso style dip with my air fryer fiesta ranch carrot chips – AMAZING!
You can pick up a tub of this at your local Target in the fresh produce section by the refrigerated dressings. You won’t regret it, I put this stuff on everything!
Just like that you have air fryer fiesta ranch carrot chips. Warning – they won’t last long! I hope you give my recipe and try and let me know if you enjoy them as much as I do. Unitl next time, happy cooking!
Cheers,
